Draconic Birds - Whipcrack Falcons

Description

Created for :iconvixenkiba: 's 'Design a Species' Contest.

The Whipcrack Falcons are draconic birds that evolved from Peregrine Falcons using magic to unlock buried residual dinosaur DNA and using that to create a new species with features relevant to its new habitat. These creatures live primarily in cities and coexist with humans. They are fairly intelligent, realizing that companionship with humanity (or at least tolerance in the case of the wild ones) is beneficial. While the tamed ones can be used for delivery of messages and parcels of varying sizes, the urban wild are often encouraged by city-keepers as a form of natural pest control. It would not be uncommon for a wealthy family to have their own 'Falcon Boxes' where they breed and keep the animals for utility and, for some, as a pet. I would imagine that there would be businesses that used them as well, and kept their own animals.

For more information, read the captions on the image itself.

From an artistic standpoint, I wanted the picture to look like a page from an old monster/creature bestiary.

Oh wow, so a dragon-like messenger, huh! That's pretty epic xD Their camouflage is pretty neat, and I love the extra image of the babies and the idea of the falcon boxes and nesting boxes on the roofs. Reminds me a lot of the seagulls in my city, which are nesting at the moment!

Also, artistically, your creature-pages DO look like those bestiary pages, it's a really cool page design! :D Thanks a lot for entering the contest!
